Facility: Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center
Location: Lafayette, La.
Architect: HOK and The Estopinal Group

Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center provides comprehensive care, extending its healing ministry by promoting health, wellness and spiritual wholeness. Its name comes from Our Lady of Lourdes, the apparition of the Virgin Mary that presented herself to Bernadette Soubirous (now a canonized saint), encouraging her to build a chapel near a spring.

Etched-glass artwork in the lobby features the Virgin Mary and proclaims "I am the Immaculate Conception" in French. The imagery captures Soubirous's vision and the medical center's inspiration for care.

Light and water elements are integrated throughout the complex to promote a healing environment. Daylight enters the hospital's lobby through open corridors and clerestories. A chapel at the center of the hospital reaffirms its dedication to faith.
