Continuous improvement
Inside HFM

By Mike Hrickiewicz

As I wrote last June when we introduced HFM’s redesign, health care delivery has been transformed over the past several years, and the hospital building boom has been at the center of this transformation. From safe healing environments to life-saving technologies, many of the major developments in patient care are being introduced through the planning, design and construction process.

To reflect these changes, we increased our coverage of architecture, while maintaining our links to engineering and ES. In addition to a sleek new design packed with photos, this new focus included in-depth cover stories on cutting-edge construction projects and more architectural features.

From that initial effort, we’ve continued to improve, varying the topics we cover and using more graphic and editorial elements to help busy readers digest the salient points of an article before delving into the details.

This month, readers will notice another improvement. “Solutions,” our new products section, greatly expands our coverage of equipment, technology and materials and their place of importance in our pages.

Designed to reflect the ever-growing array of options available to planning, design and construction professionals, Solutions utilizes larger pictures and clear categories to make it easier for busy readers to find information on the latest and most innovative vendor offerings. Within the section, we’ve also expanded our “Field Report” case studies to offer more detail on applications, results achieved with the products and more illustrative photos.

We encourage you to send your comments on Solutions or any other aspect of our redesign. It’s only through such feedback that we can further improve.
