St. Joseph Hoag Health, Irvine, Calif., opened a new Wellness Corner inside LA Fitness Irvine–Crossroads on Monday, the first in Orange County to focus on muscular, joint and spinal health.

The 1,000-square-foot facility offers natural, noninvasive therapies including acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy, bodywork and more. The goal is to promote healing, prevent injury and accelerate recovery in locations where people exercise.

"Bringing health care to the places that are most accessible influences healthy behaviors, resulting in a healthier population," says Annette Buckel, vice president of wellness at St. Joseph Hoag Health.

The new Wellness Corner unites two major health leaders headquartered in Irvine.

"At LA Fitness, we know that muscular, joint and spinal health and balance can be critical components of enjoying and maximizing the benefits of the many options of physical activity we offer in our clubs,” says Bill Horner, senior vice president and chief real estate officer, LA Fitness.

“Locating services within an LA Fitness club that focus on the well-being of these components, especially when provided by other high-quality Orange County wellness institutions such as St. Joseph Hoag Health, is a natural fit for all of us," he says.

Contractors involved in the new Wellness Corner project include RKAA Architects Inc., PR Construction, JBI Interiors, and SDA Architects & Designers, all located in Southern California.

Six Wellness Corners are now operating in Orange County with one more scheduled to open this fall. St. Joseph Hoag Health also operates four direct-to-employer wellness centers that are custom designed to serve a single employer, their employees and families.
