Rice Memorial Hospital opens rehab center

The new Rice Memorial Hospital's Rice Rehabilitation Center consolidates adult, cardiac and pediatric rehab program into one location to gain efficiencies in space and staffing. Read the related article "New rehabilitation center consolidates care in one facility."

The new Rice Rehabilitation Center, Willmar, Minn., is a one-story, approximately 11,000-square-foot facility that consolidates three outpatient programs into one location to gain efficiencies in space and staffing.

The adult, cardiac and pediatric rehab programs were previously spread across various buildings in the community. The new center offers easy patient access.

The new facility offers convenient parking, covered patient drop-off and connects by tunnel to the hospital across the street for access to additional physicians, staff and resources.

Treatment rooms have windows that are above the line of site to provide daylight while also respecting patient privacy.

Features of the building include separate adult and pediatric treatment gyms that offer access to daylight and equipment in a collaborative rehab therapy environment.

A unique feature to the center is a warm-water therapy pool with a self-contained underwater treadmill that can be raised and lowered to accommodate the needs of each patient.

The center features an outdoor playground that functions as an additional treatment space for the pediatric program.
