The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released updated guidance to help hospitals, long-term care facilities and public health agencies prevent and control carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, a family of germs resistant to antibiotic treatment. The recommendations for health care facilities expand on guidance issued in March 2009.
