NFPA weekly update: Sept. 23-27, 2024

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its standards development process.

Below is a list of NFPA codes and committee happenings for the week of Sept. 23-27

Notice of intent to make a motion

Second drafts for the following standards are open for public stakeholders to make a notice of intent to make a motion (NITMAM) until Oct. 31. The submission button for each one can be found under the “Next Edition” tab in the “Motions Committee Report” section.

NFPA 12, Standard on Carbon Dioxide Extinguishing Systems, 2025 edition

NFPA 12A, Standard on Halon 1301 Fire Extinguishing Systems, 2025 edition

NFPA 600, Standard on Facility Fire Brigades, 2025 edition

NFPA 2001, Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems, 2025 edition 

According to the NFPA website, “anyone wishing to make an allowable amending motion at an NFPA Technical Meeting must declare their intentions by filing, within the published deadline, a notice of intent to make a motion (NITMAM).
