FCC to expand broadband health care technology

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in July unveiled a new initiative that will allocate up to $400 million annually to expand broadband access to rural areas currently without adequate connectivity. In a proposed rule, the FCC announced its intentions to shoulder up to 85 percent of the costs of constructing new regional or statewide networks to serve public and nonprofit health care providers in areas with limited or no broadband access.
