Health care technology management professionals working in hospitals say their top challenge is the management of medical devices and systems on information technology networks, according to a survey released in December by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. According to the results, the other nine of the Top 10 challenges in order of importance are: integrating device data into electronic health records; broken connectors; battery management; alarm management; maintenance of infusion pump systems; cybersecurity of medical devices and systems; setting preventive maintenance strategies; medical device incident reporting and investigations; and medical devices brought in by patients.
