The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) recently advised its members on using categorical waivers provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. ASHE recommends that facilities check to ensure that their respective state accepts the waivers, ensure full compliance with the appropriate code reference mentioned in the waiver, document the decision to use the waiver and notify the survey team orally and in writing when it arrives.
