The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recently responded to a National Institute of Standards and Technology call for comments on the effectiveness of federal agency participation in standards development by urging that more agencies get involved. Other agencies could provide different perspectives and, therefore, increase the level of consensus, AAMI said. Such participation also would reduce conflicting standards, the group added.
