A federal District Court judge in Washington, D.C., extended by 30 days the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) January deadline to issue emission standards for large and small boilers and solid-waste and sludge incinerators. The EPA, which issued the proposed standards in April 2010, was seeking until April 2012, as it sorted through more than 4,800 comments and additional data submitted during the public comment period. EPA said it believes the changes "still deserve further public review and comment" and expects to solicit further comment through a reconsideration of the rules.
