Washington

Groundbreaking for PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center was held in Friday Harbor. The facility will include an expanded primary care and specialty clinic, an enhanced diagnostic services center and more. The architect is Mahlum and the builder is Howard S. Wright Constructors. Opening is scheduled for 2012.

Illinois

Advocate Christ Medical Center will build a $202 million outpatient care and research pavilion on its Oak Lawn campus near Chicago. The facility will consolidate most of the institutes on the campus, including pediatrics, cancer, cardiac care and neuroscience. HDR will provide design services. Completion is scheduled by 2014.

North Carolina

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston–Salem, began work for the construction of a six-floor addition to its comprehensive cancer center. The $125 million project will increase the number of oncology inpatient beds to 148 acute care and 44 observation beds. HKS is the architect and Bovis Lend Lease is the construction manager. Opening is scheduled for 2014.

Indiana

Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, has planned a $100 million project encompassing a 120-bed, five-story inpatient tower, redesign of key health care service areas and engineering system upgrade. BSA LifeStructures is the architect and engineer. Hunt Construction Group is the construction manager.
