The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on May 14 issued a revision of S&C-04-41, Corridor Width & Corridor-Mounted Computer Touch Screens in Health Care Facilities, according to a report in the American Society for Healthcare Engineering's ASHE e-NEWS e-mail newsletter. "The memorandum updates and revises information first conveyed in Survey and Certification letter S&C-04-41, issued by CMS on Aug. 12, 2004, which provided guidance on corridor width requirements associated with the installation of wall-mounted computer touch screens in health care facilities," ASHE says. "The increase in use and variety of these devices has resulted in many inquiries concerning how the guidance provided in the S&C-04-41 memorandum applies to new wall-mounted technologies."
