Lifelong friendships made at ASHE’s flagship conference

I look forward to seeing you all at the American Society for Health Care Engineering’s (ASHE’s) Health Care Facilities Innovation Conference® in Minneapolis this August. This is the main event of the year for our field, and it promises to be packed with insightful, actionable sessions led by industry experts.

If you’re on the fence about signing up, consider the experience an investment — not just in your career but in the success of your team, facility or health care system. The conference offers a chance to stockpile a trove of valuable information and then share that wealth of knowledge with your colleagues for the benefit of the patients we serve.

One of the best parts of ASHE’s flagship conference is the people you’ll meet there, so be sure to engage in networking opportunities with other health care physical environment professionals! On-site (and in general), I encourage you to seek out ASHE members with Fellow (FASHE) status, as they are among the most knowledgeable folks in the business.

The conference also offers insight into the extensive value of ASHE membership with sessions on the important work ASHE is doing in the regulatory sphere. ASHE’s advocacy program is one of its greatest member benefits; we work within a heavily regulated field and need an influential group to advocate for code changes and the adoption of the latest codes. ASHE has consistently gone to bat for, and succeeded in, advancing regulatory changes that ease the burden on health care facilities professionals.

One of the best ways to support that effort is to become an ASHE member. I love that so many of you are already affiliated with a local ASHE Chapter; however, funding for ASHE’s regulatory affairs work doesn’t come from Chapter dues — it comes directly from membership in the national ASHE association. Please consider joining ASHE now and placing your membership on auto-renewal to keep the advocacy wheels turning.

Lastly, if you are attending the conference, be sure to stop by ASHE’s booth on the exhibit hall floor to say hello. There are no strangers there, only connections we haven’t made yet!
