NFPA weekly update: April 20-24

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of April 20-24.    

Tentative interim amendments

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®. The committee is seeking public comments on TIA No. 1896 to the code’s 2026 edition. The TIA would modify requirements for disconnecting means for electrical conductors. The TIA is posted under the Next Edition tab, and comments are due June 2.

NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. The committee is seeking public comments on TIA No. 1898 to the code’s 2025 editions. The TIA would revise an Underwriters Laboratories reference. The TIA is posted under the Current and Prior Editions tab, and comments are due June 2.

Meeting notices and minutes

NFPA 75, Standard for the Fire Protection of Information Technology Equipment, 2028 edition. A first draft meeting agenda for the committee’s upcoming April 28 meeting is posted under the Next Edition tab in the First Draft Committee Information section.

NFPA 150, Fire and Life Safety in Animal Housing Facilities Code, 2028 edition. A second draft meeting notice for the committee’s upcoming Sept. 22-23 meetings is posted under the Next Edition tab in the Second Draft Committee Information section.

NFPA 318, Standard for the Protection of Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities, 2028 edition. The committee posted two meeting notices. A pre-second draft meeting notice for the upcoming May 19 meeting and a second draft meeting notice for the Aug. 18-20 meetings are posted under the Next Edition tab in the Second Draft Committee Information section.
