NFPA weekly update: Aug. 10-14

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Aug. 10-14.  

Public comment period open

A new tentative interim amendment (TIA) to NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, is open for public comment. TIA No. 1924 seeks to make amendments to the code’s requirements for outdoor outlets in the 2020, 2023 and 2026 editions. The TIA is posted under the “current and prior editions” tab. Public commenting closes Sept. 9. 

Ballot results 

NFPA 1, Fire Code, 2027 edition. The committee posted final ballots for TIAs No. 1905-1908, 1925-1933 and 1934-1940. The TIA ballots are posted under “next edition” tab in the “other committee information” section.

NFPA 54, National Fuel Gas Code, 2027 edition. The committee posted final ballots for amendments 54-2, 54-4, 54-14 and 54-18. The amendment ballots are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “other committee information” section.

NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, 2029 edition. The committee posted final ballot results for TIAs No. 1896, 1903, 1912 and 1915. The TIA ballots are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “other committee information” section.

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code, 2027 edition. The committee posted the final second draft ballot. The ballot is posted under “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.

NFPA 418, Standard for Heliports and Vertiports, 2028 edition. The committee posted the final first draft ballot. The ballot includes the public inputs with responses report, committee input report and first revisions report. The ballot is posted under “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

Meeting notices, agendas and minutes 

NFPA 54, National Fuel Gas Code, 2027 edition. Minutes from the committee’s June 25 Technical Meeting are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “other committee information” section. 

NFPA 1660, Standard for Emergency, Continuity, and Crisis Management: Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, 2028 edition. Second draft meeting notices for the committee’s upcoming Sept. 1-3 meetings are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section. 

NFPA 3000, Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program, 2029 edition. A pre-first draft meeting notice for the committee’s upcoming Nov. 10 meeting is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.
