The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Aug. 18-22. 

Public comment and motions

The second draft reports for the 2026 editions of the following documents are open for NITMAM submissions until Oct. 31.

The first draft reports for the 2027 editions of the following documents are open for public comment until Jan. 6, 2026.

Final Ballots

NFPA 730, Guide for Premises Security. The second draft ballot for the guide’s 2026 edition, including the second revisions report and final ballot, is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft” section

NFPA 731, Standard for the Installation of Premises Security Systems. The second draft ballot for the standard’s 2026 edition, including the public comments with responses report, second revisions report and final ballot, is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft” section.

Meeting agendas and minutes

The following committees released information on meeting agendas and minutes.

NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection. The committee posted first draft meeting agendas for its upcoming Oct. 9-10 meetings where it will discuss the standard’s 2028 edition. The agendas are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 54, National Fuel Gas Code. The committee posted second draft meeting agendas for its upcoming Oct. 7-9 meetings where it will discuss the code’s 2027 edition. The agendas are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.

NFPA 731, Standard for the Installation of Premises Security Systems. The committee posted its second draft meeting minutes from its May 14 meeting. The minutes pertain to the standard’s 2026 edition and are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.
