The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Feb. 9-13.

Notice of intent to make a motion

The 2027 editions of the following codes and standards are open for notices of intent to make a motion (NITMAM) submissions:

Public commenting

The 2028 editions of the following codes and standards are open for public comment until June 3:

Meeting notices, agendas and minutes

NFPA 22, Standard for Water Tanks for Private Fire Protection. The committee posted a first draft meeting notice for its upcoming May 27-28 meetings to discuss the standard’s 2028 edition. The notice is posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code. The committee posted second draft meeting agendas for upcoming meetings taking place, March 5, 6, 9, 10, 16, 18 and  26 to discuss the code’s 2027 edition. The agendas are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®. The committee posted second draft meeting minutes from its Dec. 11, 2025, meeting where it discussed the code’s 2027 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code. The committee posted second draft meeting minutes from its Dec. 12, 2025, meeting where it discussed the code’s 2027 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

Ballot

NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code. The final second draft ballot of the 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab.
