NFPA weekly update: July 14-18

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of July 14-18.

Updates from the National Electrical Code committee

The committee for NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, posted its transcript from the 2025 NFPA Technical Meeting. The transcript records discussion on important code issues and votes regarding the 2026 edition. The transcript is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “NFPA Technical Meeting” section.

Meeting notices, agendas and minutes

The following committees released information on meeting notices, agendas and minutes.

NFPA 37, Standard for the Installation and Use of Stationary Combustion Engines and Gas Turbines. The committee posted first draft meeting minutes from its May 28-29 meetings. The minutes pertain to the code’s 2027 edition and are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 90A, Standard for the Installation of Air-Conditioning and Ventilating Systems. The committee posted a second draft meeting notice and agenda for its upcoming Oct. 1 meeting to discuss the standard’s 2027 edition. NFPA 90B, Standard for the Installation of Warm Air Heating and Air-Conditioning Systems. The committee posted a second draft meeting notice and agenda for its upcoming Oct. 1 meeting to discuss the standard’s 2027 edition. NFPA 96, Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations. The committee posted a second draft notice for its upcoming Sept. 8 meeting to discuss the standard’s 2027 edition. NFPA 204, Standard for Smoke and Heat Venting. The committee posted first draft meeting minutes from its May 13 meeting. The minutes pertain to the standard’s 2027 edition and is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 704, Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response. The committee posted a second draft meeting notice and agenda for its upcoming Aug. 12 meeting to discuss the standard’s 2027 edition. NFPA 1225, Standard for Emergency Services Communications. The committee posted second draft meeting notices for upcoming meetings taking place Aug. 18-22 to discuss the standard’s 2027 edition. They are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.
