NFPA weekly update: June 29-July 3

NFPA shares voting results from its 2026 Technical Meeting and issues an errata regarding sprinkler protection of Class II and Class III liquids

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of June 29-July 3. 

Technical Meeting voting results  

Results of the membership voting at the 2026 NFPA Technical Meeting have been posted. The report includes the results of certified amending motions for various codes and standards, including NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code, and NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®.

Tentative interim amendments and errata

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, 2025. The committee posted tentative interim amendment (TIA) No. 1894 for public comment. The proposed amendment seeks to revise references for spacing and obstruction requirements. The TIA is open for public comment until July 7. The TIA is posted in the “current and prior editions” tab. 

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, 2029. The committee posted final ballot results for TIA No. 1896, which sought to revise standards related to disconnecting means. The ballot results are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “other committee information” section.  

Ballots 

NFPA 170, Standard for Fire Safety and Emergency Symbols, 2027. The second draft ballot, including the public comment report, second revisions report and final ballot, is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section. 

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code, 2027. The second draft ballot is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section. 

Errata

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, 2025. The committee issued erratum 13-25-1, which updates references on installation requirements for standard, pendent, upright and sidewall spray sprinklers. The erratum is posted under the “current and prior editions” section in the “errata” section. 

NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, 2027. The committee issued erratum 30-27-1, which updates references for design criteria for sprinkler protection of Class II and Class III liquids. The erratum is posted under the “current and prior editions” section in the “errata” section.
