NFPA weekly update: March 23-27

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of March 23-27.  

Tentative interim amendments

The following codes and standards have updates related to tentative interim amendments (TIAs):

NFPA 55, Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Fluids Code, 2027 edition. The committee released the final ballot on TIA No. 1878. The TIA pertains to signage requirements for certain areas. The ballot results under the next edition tab in the other committee information section.

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, 2029 edition. The committee released the final ballot on TIA No. 1875. The TIA pertains to requirements for grounding electrode systems. The ballot results are posted under the next edition tab in the other committee information section.

NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®, 2027 edition. The committee released the final ballot on TIA No. 1869. The TIA pertains to requirements for weapons detections systems. The ballot results are posted under the next edition tab in the other committee information section.

Meeting notices, agendas and minutes

NFPA 12, Standard on Carbon Dioxide Extinguishing Systems. First draft meeting notices for upcoming meetings taking place May 12-14 to discuss the standard’s 2028 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 37, Standard for the Installation and Use of Stationary Combustion Engines and Gas Turbines. A second draft meeting notice for an upcoming May 20 meeting to discuss the standard’s 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. A second draft meeting notice for an upcoming July 22 meeting to discuss the standard’s 2028 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 418, Standard for Heliports and Vertiports. First draft meeting agendas for upcoming meetings taking place April 21-23 to discuss the standard’s 2028 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 551, Guide for the Evaluation of Fire Risk Assessments. Second draft meeting minutes from the committee’s March 9 meeting where it discussed the guide’s 2027 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.
