NFPA weekly update: Oct. 27-31

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Oct. 27-31.

Ballot

The second draft ballot for the 2027 edition of NFPA 30B, Code for the Manufacture and Storage of Aerosol Products, is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section. The ballot includes the public comment with responses report, second revisions report and final ballot.

Tentative interim amendments

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. The committee issued final ballot results for two tentative interim amendments (TIAs) to the standard’s 2028 edition. The ballot results for TIA No. 1857 and TIA No. 1860 are posted under the next edition tab in the other committee information section.

NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. The final ballot for TIA No. 1831 to the 2029 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the other committee information section.

NFPA 17, Standard for Dry Chemical Extinguishing Systems. The committee posted second draft meeting minutes from its Oct. 22 meeting where it discussed the standard’s 2027 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives. The committee posted the first draft meeting agenda for upcoming meetings taking place Nov. 10-12 to discuss the standard’s 2028 edition. NFPA 105, Standard for Smoke Door Assemblies and Other Opening Protectives. NFPA 318, Standard for the Protection of Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities.
