NFPA weekly update: Sept. 7-11

NFPA seeks public comments on emergency and standby power, and sprinkler system installation standards

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Sept. 7-11.   

Public comment periods open

A new tentative interim amendment (TIA) to NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, is open for public comment. TIA No. 1945 seeks to make modifications on Table 19.2.2.1 Water Supply Requirements for Pipe Schedule Sprinkler Systems to the standard’s 2025 and 2028 editions. The TIA is posted under the “current and prior editions” tab. Public commenting closes Oct. 14. 

A new TIA to NFPA 110, Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems, is open for public comment. TIA No. 1950 seeks to make amendments regarding Tier 4 certified engines to the standard’s 2025 and 2028 editions. The TIA is posted under the “current and prior editions” tab. Public commenting closes Oct. 14.
