The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in August awarded $698.2 million in fiscal year 2010 Public Health Emergency Preparedness cooperative agreement funds to public health agencies in states, territories and metropolitan areas. The grants will address the emergency needs of children and people with chronic medical disorders; coordinate preparedness and response activities; and develop measurable activities to strengthen community resilience and mitigate the health consequences of large-scale emergencies.
