The Joint Commission is seeking input on proposed revisions to diagnostic imaging requirements for the ambulatory care, critical access hospital and hospital accreditation programs. The changes include safety measures for magnetic resonance imaging and radiation exposure. "Research has indicated that the current Joint Commission requirements need to be enhanced to address several significant quality- and safety-related issues associated with diagnostic imaging," the Joint Commission states. "Several of the proposed standard changes are highly technical and, in some instances, prescriptive." The comment period ends Sept. 25.
