NFPA weekly update: Feb. 23-27

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Feb. 23-27.

Ballots

Final ballots and reports for the following codes and standards have been released:

NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives. The final first draft ballot for the standard’s 2028 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 105, Standard for Smoke Door Assemblies and Other Opening Protectives. The final first draft ballot for the standard’s 2028 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 110, Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The final first draft ballot and correlating notes report for the standard’s 2028 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 111, Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The final first draft ballot and correlating notes report for the standard’s 2028 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 704, Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response. Ballot results for tentative interim amendment No. 1877 for the 2027 edition are posted under the next edition tab.

NFPA 1225, Standard for Emergency Services Communication. The final second draft ballot and correlating revisions report for the standard’s 2027 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section. 

NFPA 5000, Building Construction Safety Code. The second draft ballot for the code’s 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

Meeting agendas and minutes

NFPA 170, Standard for Fire Safety and Emergency Symbols. The committee posted a second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming April 7 meeting to discuss the second draft of the standard’s 2027 edition. The agenda is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 551, Guide for the Evaluation of Fire Risk Assessments. The committee posted a second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming March 9 meeting to discuss the second draft of the guide’s 2027 edition. The agenda is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 1660, Standard for Emergency Continuity, and Crisis Management: Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. The committee posted first draft meeting minutes from its Jan. 13-15 meetings where it discussed the standard’s 2028 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.
