FLORIDA

Ground was broken in May on a $75 million expansion of St. Joseph's Women's Hospital in Tampa, Fla. The 125,000-square-foot project will house a 64-bed neonatal intensive care unit, the Hinks and Elaine Shimburg Breast Center and 24 private patient suites, with space to add another 24.

OHIO

Summa Health System, Akron, Ohio, announced a $65 million plan to expand its comprehensive emergency services network by building two emergency departments and expanding three existing ones. Free-standing, 24/7 emergency departments will be built on the Summa Health Center at Lake Medina campus (currently under construction) and in the city of Green to complement services offered at the Summa Health Center at Green. Both EDs are expected to open in 2011. The emergency departments at Summa Akron City Hospital, Summa Barberton Hospital and Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital will be expanded.

TEXAS

Children's Medical Center Dallas will build a 34,000-square-foot outpatient specialty center in Southlake offering pediatric sports medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, urology, imaging and other services. Ultimately, Children's plans to expand the facility to 69,500 square feet. HKS Inc. will design the building.

FLORIDA

Martin Memorial Health System is expected to break ground in fall 2011 on a 137,000-square-foot, 80-bed hospital in Port St. Lucie, Fla. KLMK Group will provide programming and management services for the hospital project, which is expected to be completed at the end of 2013.
