Georgia

Duke Realty has started development of Northside Hospital's new 100,817-square-foot, four-story Northside Cherokee Towne Lake Medical Office Building near Atlanta. Northside Hospital will lease the facility, which will house a variety of outpatient services and physician practices. The architect is Lyman Davidson Dooley Inc. and the general contractor is Brasfield & Gorrie. The project is expected to be completed in August 2013.

Maryland

Forrester Construction Co. started work on the $12 million Aquilino Cancer Center on the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital campus in Rockville. The new 51,000-square-foot, three-story, LEED Silver-certified building is a joint venture of the RMJ Development Group and Shady Grove Adventist Hospital along with the Walker Group and AtSite. The architect is AECOM Architects. Completion is slated for summer 2013.

California

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, selected Turner Construction Co. to build the Fort Irwin replacement hospital in San Bernardino. The $160 million, 216,000-square-foot hospital will provide tertiary care, emergency medicine and clinical support. Ellerbe Becket/RLF Joint Venture will provide full design services.

North Dakota

Sanford Health recently broke ground on the new $541 million Sanford Fargo Medical Center. The 10-story, 1.3 million-square-foot facility will include 460 patient beds, 12 heart catheterization labs and interventional rooms, 32 operating rooms and 51 emergency department bays. It is scheduled to open in 2018.
