Clark McCarthy Healthcare Partners II, a joint venture of Clark Construction Group and McCarthy Building Cos. Inc., was recently awarded a $648 million contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, to build the Fort Bliss Replacement Hospital in El Paso. The 1.1 million-square-foot health care campus is expected to be completed in 2016.

California

Design firm Ware Malcomb announced that work has started for Hammes Co.'s medical office building (MOB) project located on the new Sutter Medical Center Campus, Santa Rosa. The project includes the design of a three-story MOB totaling approximately 80,000 square feet, including core and shell.

Connecticut

Groundbreaking recently was held for an expansion of Stamford Hospital. Designed by WHR Architects, the $450 million, 11-story, 636,247-square-foot project is scheduled for completion in 2016. Key features include all private patient rooms and centralized nurses' stations for flexible care delivery.

Texas

General contracting firm Brasfield & Gorrie was awarded the expansion and renovation of Medical City Hospital, Dallas. The project will consist of a 160,307-square-foot, four-story vertical expansion above the existing emergency department and a 68,576-square-foot phased interior renovation of multiple departments. Perkins+Will has been named the architect.
