NFPA weekly update: May 11-15

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of May 11-15.

Motions committee reports

Motions committee reports and meeting agendas for the following codes and standards have been posted in preparation for the NFPA Technical Meeting taking place June 25. The motion committee reports contain certified amending motions and notices of intent to make a motion.

Tentative interim amendments

NFPA 704, Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response, 2022 edition. Tentative interim amendment (TIA) 27-1 revises an equation related to vapor pressure. The TIA is posted under the current and prior editions tab.

NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code, 2027 edition. The final ballot result for TIA No. 1870 regarding weapons detection systems is posted under the next edition tab.

Meeting notices and agendas

NFPA 22, Standard for Water Tanks for Private Fire Protection, 2028 edition. A first draft meeting agenda for the committee’s upcoming May 27-28 meeting is posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code, 2027 edition. Second draft meeting minutes from the committee’s March 5, 6, 9, 10, 16 and 26 meetings are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.
