NFPA weekly update: May 4-8

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of May 4-8.

Tentative interim amendments

Tentative interim amendments (TIAs) have been issued for the following codes and standards:

NFPA 1, Fire Code, 2024 edition. TIA 24-29 includes several changes to requirements for operating features. The TIA was issued April 15 and went into effect May 5. A copy of the TIA is available in the current and prior editions tab.

NFPA 2, Hydrogen Technologies Code, 2029 edition. TIA No. 1893, which includes changes to tables related to outdoor bulk hydrogen compressed gas systems, passed ballot. A copy of the TIA ballot is available under the next edition tab.

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, 2025 edition. TIA 25-6 revises a paragraph related to dry pipe systems. The TIA was issued April 15 and went into effect May 5. A copy of the TIA is available in the current and prior editions tab.

NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, 2027 edition. TIA 27-1 revises several portions of chapters 10 and 12 of the code. The TIA was issued April 15 and went into effect May 5. A copy of the TIA is available in the current and prior editions tab.

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, 2026 edition. TIA 26-8 revises references related to grounding electrode systems. The TIA was issued April 15 and went into effect May 5. A copy of the TIA is available in the current and prior editions tab.

NFPA 318, Standard for the Protection of Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities, 2025 edition. TIA 25-1 revises tables related to recommended smoke detection design criteria. The TIA was issued April 15 and went into effect May 5. A copy of the TIA is available in the current and prior editions tab.

NFPA 2001, Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems, 2025 edition. TIA 25-1 revises requirements related to occupant egress. The TIA was issued April 15 and went into effect May 5. A copy of the TIA is available in the current and prior editions tab.

Meeting notices and agendas

NFPA 37, Standard for the Installation and Use of Stationary Combustion Engines and Gas Turbines, 2027 edition. A second draft meeting agenda for the committee’s upcoming May 20 meeting is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.
