Committee updates on emergency and standby power, fire alarms and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Oct. 6-10.   

Errata

A new errata has been issued for NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, to correct errors in the 2026 edition. Errata 25-26-1 was issued Oct. 7 and is posted under the current and prior editions tab in the errata section.

Meeting notices and agendas

NFPA 17, Standard for Dry Chemical Extinguishing Systems. The committee posted a second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming Oct. 22 meeting to discuss the code’s 2027 edition. The agenda is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 17A, Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems. The committee posted a second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming Oct. 22 meeting to discuss the code’s 2027 edition. The agenda is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code®. The committee posted a pre-second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming Oct. 24 meeting to discuss the code’s 2028 edition. The agenda is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 80, Recommended Practice for Protection of Buildings from Exterior Fire Exposures. The committee posted a second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming Nov. 4 meeting to discuss the document’s 2027 edition. NFPA 110, Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The committee posted a first draft meeting notice for its upcoming Jan. 27-28, 2026, meetings. The committee will discuss the first draft of the standard’s 2028 edition. The notice is posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 111, Standard on Store Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The committee posted a first draft meeting notice for its upcoming Jan. 27-28, 2026, meetings.
