NFPA weekly update: Dec. 8-12

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Dec. 8-12.     

Consensus Standards

The following codes standards did not receive any notices of intent to make a motion and will move forward as a consent standard:

• NFPA 2, Hydrogen Technologies Code, 2026 edition
• NFPA 53, Recommended Practice on Materials, Equipment, and Systems Used in Oxygen-Enriched Atmospheres, 2026 edition
• NFPA 70B, Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance, 2026 edition
• NFPA 232, Standard for the Protection of Records, 2026 edition
• NFPA 730, Guide for Premises Security, 2026 edition
• NFPA 731, Standard for the Installation of Premises Security Systems, 2026 edition
• NFPA 1082, Standard for Facilities Fire and Life Safety Director Professional Qualifications, 2026 edition

Ballots

NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code. The final second draft ballots for the code’s 2027 edition are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section. It includes the final ballots from seven NFPA 99 subcommittees.

NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®. The final second draft ballot for the code’s 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 1225, Standard for Emergency Services Communications. The final second draft ballot for the standard’s 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section. The ballot includes the second revisions report, public comments with responses report and final ballot.

NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code. The final second draft ballot for the code’s 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

Meeting agenda

NFPA 1225, Standard for Emergency Services Communications. The committee posted a second draft meeting agenda for its upcoming Dec. 16 meeting to discuss the code’s 2027 edition. The agenda is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.
