MISSOURI

Groundbreaking is scheduled for March for the new Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield. The $28 million, 63,000-square-foot project will include specially equipped rooms for burn patients, a dedicated stroke unit, high-tech therapy devices and treatments, and more. The project is a partnership between Mercy and Centerre Healthcare Corp.

PENNSYLVANIA

Torcon was selected by St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia to provide preconstruction and construction management services for a new four-floor, 135,000-square-foot Pediatric Critical Care Tower, in addition to a 30,000-square-foot medical office building to house the Center for the Urban Child, a community-based initiative designed to provide high-quality care to urban children.

MARYLAND

Scheduled to break ground in 2013, the new Shore Regional Medical Center will replace the University of Maryland Medical System's 100-year-old Memorial Hospital at Easton. HKS recently unveiled the design for the 362,000-square-foot medical center, which will feature 126 private patient rooms in more than 352,000 square feet.

CONNECTICUT

Architectural firm Perkins Eastman was selected to design and fit out the new outpatient care center at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington. The 300,000-square-foot building is part of the Bioscience Connecticut initiative.
