ALASKA The Indian Health Service awarded a $90.5 million contract for construction of 150,000-square-foot Norton Sound Regional Hospital, Nome, Alaska. The funds came through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The contract was awarded to the Inuit-NCI, JV, an undertaking between Inuit Services Inc. and Neeser Con­struction Inc., Anchorage, Alaska. The facility will replace a 61-year-old hospital.

WASHINGTON Swedish Medical Center broke ground for its Issaquah (Wash.) Campus, which includes a comprehensive ambulatory care center and medical office building to be opened this year. The first phase of an acute care community hospital will be completed in 2012. Collins­Woerman of Seattle will provide architectural services and develop the campus master plan. Sellen Construction Co. is the general contractor.

ILLINOIS Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers, Evergreen Park, Ill., will break ground this year on a $150 million to $175 million campus transformation project that will include a patient tower and the Women's Center for Life and Health.

GEORGIA WellStar Health System will build a 100-bed general acute care hospital in Hiram, Ga. HKS Inc. was chosen as the lead architect.
