North Carolina
The Department of Veterans Affairs has selected Lend Lease to design, build and manage a new health care center in Kernersville. The 280,000-square-foot, four-story facility will provide a wide range of primary and mental health care to veterans. Perkins Eastman is the designer of the facility, which is scheduled for completion in fall 2015.
California
Groundbreaking was held on the Los Alamitos Medical and Wellness Pavilion on the campus of Los Alamitos Medical Center. The $37 million project consists of a three-story, 70,000-square-foot medical office building and a 167-bed acute care hospital, which is part of Tenet Healthcare Corp. The architect is Boulder Associates.
Florida
The new Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida is scheduled to open in Fort Myers in April 2017. The $250 million children's hospital will consolidate the medical and ancillary specialty services required to treat critically ill or injured children in a five-county region. FKP is the design firm.
Texas
Work is scheduled to begin in January on the expansion and renovation of Medical City Hospital, Dallas. The project includes a 160,307-square-foot, four-story vertical expansion, which is above the emergency department, and a 68,576-square-foot phased interior renovation of multiple departments. Brasfield & Gorrie is the construction firm and Perkins + Will is the architect.
