NFPA weekly update: Sept. 15-19

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Sept. 15-19.  

Tentative interim amendments

NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based fire Protection Systems. The committee is soliciting public comments on the proposed 2026 edition tentative interim amendment (TIA) No. 1831. The comment period closes Oct. 20. The TIA is posted under the current and prior editions tab in the tentative interim amendment section.

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code. The committee issued TIA 23-1 on Aug. 20 with an effective date of Sept. 9. The TIA modifies references to vent sizes in the code’s 2023 edition. The TIA is posted under the current and prior editions tab in the tentative interim amendment section.

Final ballot information

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code. The final ballot for the code’s first draft of the 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

Meeting notices and minutes

NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code. A second draft meeting notice for an upcoming meeting taking place Dec. 9-10 to discuss the code’s 2027 edition is posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. The committee posted second draft meeting minutes from its Aug. 19-21 meetings where it discussed the standard’s 2027 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code. The committee posted second draft meeting minutes from its Aug. 12-13 meetings where it discussed the code’s 2027 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the second draft committee information section.

NFPA 110, Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The committee posted first draft meeting minutes from its Aug. 1 meeting where it discussed the standard’s 2028 edition. The minutes are posted under the next edition tab in the first draft committee information section.

NFPA 111, Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The committee posted first draft meeting minutes from its Aug. 1 meeting where it discussed the standard’s 2028 edition.
